Baby & Postnatal Yoga
About this class
One of the challenges of being a new parent is that, in the beginning, there can be a lot of things you don’t understand about communicating with your baby because you are still getting to know each other!
By doing baby yoga, you will learn some really useful techniques to help you ‘have a conversation’ with your baby right from the start, and gain a deeper understanding of how to communicate with each other, gain a deeper understanding of babies’ development, and spend valuable time engaging and bonding with them.
Designed with the Early Years Foundation Stage in mind, our baby yoga classes use interactive stories, songs and dance to encourage physical and cognitive development, and explore a different theme each week – dinosaurs, the jungle, farmyard animals, weather, space, and seasons, to name just a few!
What’s more, baby yoga is a wonderful way for mums to ease back into exercise through postnatal yoga techniques. We use specific yoga moves to support postpartum recovery. Our classes help with the emotional and physical demands of motherhood and to offer ongoing support of your well being.
Our postnatal yoga sessions focus on rebuilding 3 main areas: the back, the abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor. We work at a pace to suit you. As these key areas are interconnected, we work on all three at once to help bring back structural integrity to the body.
You will also learn breath awareness and relaxation techniques for the mind and body, which will help to increase energy levels and allow you to relax with baby. If mummy is relaxed, this relaxes the baby too!
Yoga helps you to deal with stress and encourages mindful relaxation, guiding you back to your former self.
A wonderful way to bond with your baby, regain your strength, connect with others and feel great.
Baby yoga is a natural successor to baby massage, though it is not essential for your baby to have attended massage before starting yoga.
